The Battle of the Sundering, Second Age 207.
Basic information:
-Numbers for both side
The Einheldren: 40,000
The Scarlet Vanguard: 25,000
-Losses
The Einheldren: 28,000
The Scarlet Vanguard: 9,000
Battle Overview:
"Perhaps the greatest victory of men in the history of Alscium, the Battle of the Sundering was the engagement that marked the founding the Free State, the creation of the Scarlet Vanguard as a unified fighting fore, and a battle that assured, for now, the freedom of men. It was fought on the Fourth of Meadowlark by a ragtag army of rebels from Doltromme against a massive, well-equipped army of the Einheldren. The battle began similar to most others, with the Einheldren seeking to crush a flank with their cavalry. However, they were met with fierce resistance by human pike-men, wielding massive longspears that unhorsed riders and slew steeds all across the field of battle. Men, using the gunpowder of the gnomes, rained fire and death down upon the Einheldren with cannon and matchlock, leaving hundreds dead before the main bodies of the forces even met. Through the guidance, leadership, and charisma of Dolric Milner, his characteristic stag-horn helmet atop his head, men found strength they did not know they had that day. Each man fought with the tenacity of three elves in the heat of the melee, winning a victory against the Einheldren that infuriates their High-Lord to this very day."
