The Battle of the Green Fields, Second Age, Year 178
Basic information:
-Numbers for both side
The Einheldren: 50,000
The Northland Rebellion: 35,000
-Losses
The Einheldren: 14,000
The Northland Rebellion: 26,000
Battle Overview:
"The Green Fields was the beginning of the end for the Northland Rebellion. One of tte few pitched engagements ever fought by the Rebels, the freedom fighters saw themselves horribly outmatched and outnumbered. It was not, by any account, a slow battle. The Einheldren pressed their advantage nearly immediately, sending their massive cavalry troops forth to lay waste to the Rebellion's left flank while their archers harried them on the right. Their spearmen advanced up the center in two columns before, in their hubris, breaking ranks and charging forth, swords drawn. The fighting was fiercest at the very center of the battlefield, and it was here that the great Einheldren general Mardrift Solaris met his end, foolishly leading the charge from the front of the column. However, such a loss did not phase the Einheldren as they nearly destroyed the entirety of the Rebellion's army, scattering them across Alscium, forcing them to lick their wounds and fade into the background, at least for a time, once again."
