The Battle of the Estmark, Second Age 203.
Basic information:
-Numbers for both side
The Einheldren: 70,000
The Orcish Horde: Around 200,000
-Losses
The Einheldren: 30,000
The Orcish Horde: 170,000
Battle Overview:
"The battle of the Estmark is perhaps, to some, the greatest victory of the elves. It was here they marched into combat against an orcish horde the likes of which had never been seen before. They fought with ferocity and tenacity and a complete disregard for their existence that none had ever seen before, let alone fought against. Led by the High-Lord Galadir Al'halandil, the Einheldren marched across the Estmark in slow, measured steps. Arrows flitted over their heads, from their own archers behind them and from the crude bows of the rushing orcs, but yet they marched on. The orcs were bellowing, chanting, and screaming, and it rang in their helmets, but the elves marched on. Bolts of lightning and tongues of flame spewed forth from the elven spellcasters, decimating the first ranks of the orcs, but the blood-fury driven beasts threw themselves ever forwards. Battle was joined at the very center of the Plain of Estmark, a ferocious, bloody melee erupted, leaving countless dead, and only ended with the slaying of the orcish warlord, Grogmak Facechewer, at the hands of the High-Lord himself. Even then, when the orcish retreat was sounded, many of the greenskins did not leave the field, forcing the elves to fight on against those who held out bitterly against the green tide. The Estmark showed the elves that, while they may be able to defeat the orcs, they would have to kill almost every last one to do it."
